I really should work some more on this creature and finish it but I made so many mistakes early on that it is impossible for me to do so without basically redoing the whole thing from scratch. Instead it will join my other unfinished pieces here, to gather dust and teach me to do better.
Original concept by Louise Meijer : https://www.artstation.com/artwork/4bbxNq
What I learned from this:
1- Study the concept. I rushed this part and it shows. I missed important details in the design and the proportions are off in places.
2- Think about the movements when blocking out shapes. Because I made the base mesh with its head raised, I couldn't lower it during animation without the neck looking broken.
3- Do one step at a time to every piece before moving on to the next step. Don't sculpt details before muscles and don't make textures for the body before it even has eyes.
