Mr Mushroom

I started this project almost a year ago as a fun little thing to get me in the mood for Christmas. He was then meant to have an oversized santa outfit on, complete with fake beard and slouchy hat. Picking it back up again, many months later, I scraped the outfit for something more simple and year round appropriate.
Had great fun designing his pants in Marvelous Designer and refining them in ZBrush. I tried to get the fabric to feel a bit thick and stiff to enhance the feeling of his smaller size.
Rigging and skinning something this thick was a big challenge and so he does have some corrective blend shapes going on his shoulders.

Also made a custom shader for Marmoset so that the reflection in his eyes changes colour depending on viewer angle.
The background objects are mostly photo scans that I did some rough editing on to make them a bit more stylized. The ferns are from a game project made a few months back.
